Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is benign tumor of salivary gland. Pleomorphic adenoma contains both epithelial and myoepithelial elements and it arises from myoepithelial cells of salivary gland. The index study to describe rare case of pleomorphic adenoma of soft palate diagnosed by FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology).

Bruises of the face, sometimes extending to the neck and upper torso, differ from bruising in systemic disease. Two case histories illustrate their main etiologies: bruising induced by coughing or straining which usually is an innocent occurrence, and bruising caused by rough handling the patient or elder abuse which need to be prevented.

Background Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is a 4-aminoquinoline derivative, used in the treatment of malaria and rheumatic diseases. HCQ has also been suggested as a treatment in patients suffering from severe acute respiratory syndrome–coronavirus 2 (SARS–CoV-2). One of the cardiac complications of SARS-CoV-2 is myocarditis and ventricular dysfunction. Case summary We present the case of a 52 year old lady presenting with 2 months history of breathlessness, found to have severely impaired left ventricular function. She had been taking HCQ for 28 months for seronegative inflammatory arthritis. No cause was identified on initial investigation. She was treated with optimal medical therapy, and HCQ was stopped. After 5 months a cardiac MRI scan revealed full remodelling of the ventricle. Discussion This case highlights one of the lesser recognized side effects of HCQ, and the potential for severe cardiac dysfunction. As this drug continues to be investigated and used in the management of SARS-CoV-2 it is important to recognize the potential for cardiac decompensation in patients who are already at increased risk of myocardial dysfunction.

With technological advancements in the medical field, new discoveries have been unfolded about the human microbiota. A tremendous amount of work has been studied within the last two decades. Some of the human microbiota sites include nonsterile areas such as mouth, skin, gut, nose, and vagina. Additionally, there are bacterial cells in areas that were considered sterile such as lungs and placenta before delivery. Out of all the sites, the gut houses the most with an amount of 100 trillion bacteria (Guinane, 2013). Environmental implications have been known to impact these new areas of medicine. There has been a growing interest by the social epidemiologists on how health inequalities impact the role of human gut microbiota.

Association of head and neck edema with rhabdomyolysis syndrome has been described for intoxication with paraphenylene diamine and nonsteroïdal anti-inflammatory drugs. In this article, we report a case of a patient with history of cannabis dependence who had rhabdomyolysis after using cannabis associated with clonazepam. He is a 23-year-old man, chronic cannabis smoker, admitted to ENT emergency department of 20 August hospital, University Hospital Center in Casablanca, for acute respiratory distress following a glosso-pharyngeal edema after concomitant use of cannabis and clonazepam and requiring use of an emergency tracheotomy. Biological assessment also showed rhabdomyolysis syndrome. Allergic manifestations and side effects of cannabis continue to increase especially with increase in its use after its legalization in many countries. Treatment is essentially based on prevention by avoiding any contact with cannabis or its derivatives.
